Last Wednesday, the grade 4 and grade 5 students had an exciting and educational field trip to the science museum as part of their unit on energy. The kids are such excellent risk-takers to explore different forms of energy and learn how energy is used in daily life.

Before going to the museum, students were asked to search for the energy and find out the answer to those questions: What is it like? How does it work? Why is it the way it is? How is it changing and how is it connected to other things?

Upon arrival at the museum, our knowledgeable students were greeted with interactive exhibits showcasing various forms of energy such as kinetic, potential, thermal, and electrical energy. They had the chance to observe and experiment with different energy sources, including solar panels and water turbines, engaging in hands-on learning experiences that fostered their development of thinking skills.

One of the highlights of the trip was a demonstration of how energy can be transformed and utilized in everyday objects. The students, being inquirers and thinkers, were amazed to see how energy powers our homes, schools, and transportation systems. They also learned about the importance of conserving energy and using renewable sources to protect the environment, demonstrating their commitment to the IB learner profile attribute of being caring.

The field trip to the science museum was a fun and enriching experience for the students. It reinforced their understanding of energy concepts and sparked their curiosity and interest in science. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide our students with such a valuable learning experience outside the classroom, promoting their development as IB learners.
